As the year goes on we keep expecting a Haswell CPU series release from Intel. Most people expect this to happen around Computex time (June 4-8). With Haswell it is already been speculated that the platform will be called Z87 and will be the mid-range solution. This is old news and something that we have have known for quite some time. According to TweakTown the next generation of performance range CPU’s will be coming by the end of the year and not in 2014 as many people thought.

Gigabyte X79-UD3 Intel X79 Motherboard Review

Gigabyte’s lineup of Intel X79 or Sandy Bridge-E motherboards is only made up of four boards.  For gamers there is the G1 Assassin 2, X79-UD7-OC for overclockers, and X79-UD5 for enthusiasts.  This brings us to the X79-UD3 which is Gigabyte’s entry-level and least expensive Intel X79 motherboard coming it at $249.  Sandy Bridge-E is Intel’s high-end platform and the X79 chipset is much improved over its P67/Z68 counterparts.  You now have 40 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes and quad-channel memory.  That means with this board you can easily throw in up to 32GB of DDR3 and run 4-way Crossfire or SLI right out of the box.  Also this is the first time we will see Gigabyte’s 3D BIOS.  Read on as we inspect the X79-UD3 Motherboard.

Intel Core i7-3820 Quad-Core Core Processor Review

When Intel released their new Sandy Bridge-E Processors late last year there was the flagship processor the i7-3930K which has a price tag of $599 and the I7-3930X which has an even more staggering price tag of $999.  When these processors were announced there was word of a more budget-friendly processor that would be out in Q1 of this year.  It is here in the form of the Core i7-3820.  This processor features 4 cores, features Intel’s Hyperthreading technology for up to 8 threads, a default clock speed of 3.6GHz with a turbo speed of 3.9GHz, 10MB of Intel Smart Cache, and this processor is built on the 32nm process.  This processor puts Intel’s X79 platform in the reach of many people with a price tag that is half of the i7-3930K at $300.  Read on to see what this processor is all about.
