AMD has once again cut the prices of their R9 290 Series and R9 280 Series graphics cards. We of course assume this is better to compete with NVIDIA. The R9 290X, R9 290, R9 280 and R9 285 all see price cuts.
AMD has just announced a $30 price cut for their Radeon R9 280 graphics card. Compared to the Radeon R9 280X the R9 280 has a few differences like a 20% lower clock speed, turbo speed, memory speed and less shaders and computing units.
Today AMD has launched the R9 280 graphics card. It looks like they are chasing that $279 pricetag that NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 760 holds. The R9 280 is basically a rebrand of the HD 7950, more specifically the HD 7950 Boost with a 8 MHz difference.
With NVIDIA’s upcoming Maxwell graphics cards AMD wants to make some noise and is working on two cards, the R9 280 and R7 265. Of course these cards are nothing really new, just rebrands of older cards.
