G.Skill has just announced their Phoenix Blade Series 480 GB PCIe solid state drive. This high performance solid state drive is ideal for extreme gaming, professional graphic design, industrial design, and HD video & audio content creation.
Today we are taking a look at the most recent revision the RevoDrive 350. Available in capacities ranging from 240 GB – 960 GB this PCI-Express solid state drive boasts sequential read and write speeds of 1800 MB/s and 1700 MB/s respectively. OCZ is labeling the RevoDrive 350 as a Workstation product and given its performance it will set you back much more than your typical solid state drive.
For all of your storage buffs out there G.Skill definitely has something for you at Computex 2014! They were showing off their brand new Phoenix Blade Series of PCI-Express solid state drives, which if you can guess are very, very fast!
At CES this year Kingston was showing a very promising PCI-Express solid state drive. Going under the name HyperX Predator this drive will be based on LSI’s upcoming SandForce 3700 series controller codenamed Griffin.
Mushkin has announced the launch of their new Scorpion Deluxe PCI Express solid state drive. Mushkin says the Scorpion “was conceived to offer multimedia designers maximum performance and a scalable 4-way format.” The PCI Express solid state drive will be one of the fastest ones available at launch!
RunCore, the leading manufacturer of high-performance and rugged solid state drives (SSDs), today introduced its latest Enterprise-Grade SSD, the RunCore Kylin III PCIe SSD. With an application that includes databases, web servers, analytical engines, high performance computing servers and other similar applications, requiring ultra low latency and high bandwidth are some of the features supported by Kylin III PCIe. It significantly increases performance density while attaining a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) which was never attained before.
PCI-Express solid state drives are fairly new and there are only a handful of these drives available. These devices break the speed barrier on SATA 6GB/s drives by using the PCI-E interface. The most prevalent PCI-E solid state drives our OCZ’s RevoDrive series, but OCZ better watch out because the drive we are taking a look at today has a few features that the RevoDrive’s do not. The OWC Mercury Accelsior PCI-E Solid State Drive comes in capacities from 120GB to 960GB, is upgradable, and is both PC and Mac “plug and play” compatible. Want to learn more? Read on for our review!
With all of the SATA 6GB/s drives coming out this year we have really pushed the limits of solid state drives. Most of the solid state drives we have tested max out at about 550MB/s. We are not going to see a SATA-connected drive go much faster than that until the next revision of SATA, which will not come for a while. So if you want to get faster speeds you will either need to RAID your drives or choose a different interface. OCZ has been at the forefront of PCI-E solid state drive development with the RevoDrive series. Now on its third version of the drive it is powered by the latest SandForce controller and boasts speed of 1000MB/s read and 900MB/s write! Let’s take a look at the 240GB version of the drive.
Do we have an awesome unboxing for you today! Today we are unboxing the OCZ RevoDrive 3 Solid State Drive! This is OCZ’s third revision of the RevoDrive and this one sure packs a punch with rated speeds of 1000MB/s read and 900MB/s write! This drive is powered by two SandForce SF-2281 controllers and OCZ SuperScale Storage Controller which features Virtualized Controller Architecture 2.0. This is a PCI-Express based drive that is bootable and supports TRIM and SMART monitoring. Read on to check out our unboxing video and to get a brief overview of the RevoDrive 3!
Over the past year we have looked at quite a few solid state drives. The big thing this year was the introduction of the SandForce controller into just about every different manufacturer’s drives. OCZ is one such manufacturer, but they have done something different with RevoDrive. The RevoDrive is not an ordinary 2.5-inch SATA drive we are used to seeing, it is a a 4x PCI-Express expansion card with 2 SandForce controllers configured in a RAID 0 setup for extremely fast transfer speeds. Let’s take a look at this drive and see if it can blow away the competition.
