NVIDIA has officially announced the GeForce GTX 960 graphics card. This will be NVIDIA’s mid-range offering in their 900 series, based on the GM206 silicon, with 2.9 billion transistors, a 294 mm² die-area, and 2 GB of GDDR5 running across a 128-bit wide memory bus.
Well it looks like the guys over at VideoCardz have revealed the full details of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 960 and have provided test scores before the card launches on Thursday. We have the full run-down for you so if you are looking to pick this card up when it launches read on!
Well here are the first known shots of NVIDIA’s next-gen flagship graphics card, the GeForce GTX Titan X. This card is powered by the brand new 28 nm GM200 silicon, which we have heard may feature 3072 CUDA cores, is based on the Maxwell architecture, has a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, NVIDIA’s latest memory bandwidth tech, 96 ROPs and 12 GB of memory.
The first pictures of Gigabyte’s GeForce 960 G1 Gaming graphics card has been revealed. The card follows in the footsteps of previous G1 Gaming cards from Gigabyte. The card will carry a factory overclock and a hefty cooling solution.
NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 960 is supposed to launch on the 22nd of this month, but it looks like performance numbers of the card have been leaked out! The performance numbers come from Chinese PC community PCEVA. It looks like the card was installed on a test-bed that was driven by a Core i7-4770K that was overclocked to 4.50 GHz.
On NVIDIA’s latest releases, the GTX 970 and 980 we saw many add-in card (AIC) partners that use custom cooling solutions feature a idle-fan off mode. This feature allows for the fans on the card to turn completely off when the card is at idle or below a temperature threshold. This in turn makes the card completely silent when you are not gaming. NVIDIA is planning at add this feature to their next generation GeForce GTX Titan X graphics card.
To start the card will be based on NVIDIA’s 28 nm GM206 silicon. It will pack in 1024 CUDA cores that are based on the Maxwell architecture, 64 TMUs, possibly 32 ROPs, and has 2 GB of memory across a 128-bit wide GDDR5 interface. While you may think that the bus seems narrow, NVIDIA will be using lossless texture compression technology that will effectively improve bandwidth utilization.
With typical AMD fashion, the worlds first FreeSync enabled monitor is hitting shelves and is a massive $170 cheaper than it’s nearly identical Nvidia G-Sync counterpart. If you’re not familiar, last year Nvidia debuted the concept of G-Sync which involves matching the refresh rate of your monitor to the frame rate being produced by the GPU.
Our original report on the launch of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 said it would launch a couple of weeks after CES 2015 and now we have a real date. According to a recent report by Hermitage Akihabara the card will launch January 22, 2015.
According to a new report from WCCFTech, both AMD’s and NVIDIA’s upcoming next-generation GPUs could be delayed, at least the 16 nm or 20 nm versions. For the past 3 years the GPU industry has been stuck on the 28 nm process and while 2014 did bring in TSMC’s 20 nm process much of the early 20 nm process capacity has been given to major clients like Qualcomm and Apple.
