While we had news of MSI’s Z87A Gaming Motherboard prototype yesterday, today we see that they have released an all new gaming motherboard line with three Intel Z77 motherboards. All of the boards feature network chips from KillerNIC, which of course will ensure lower ping times during games. They are feature a gaming color scheme, which seems to me a metallic red and black. These new boards are to be positioned with their current lineup of Z77 motherboards, but expect a higher price point.
We have another look at an upcoming Z87 motherboard, this time it is from MSI. They were showing an early prototype of the Z87A Gaming Series motherboard. MSI has yet to really design the final color scheme, heatsinks, and PCB color, but most of the development of the board is done.
Many companies we cover here at ThinkComputers launch products in Japan ahead of a worldwide or US release or even solely in Japan. That is the case with MSI and their new low-cost GeForce GTX 680 Lightning L Graphics Card. The card features a dual fan design and dual-DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connections. It has official clock speeds of 1019 MHz / 1084 MHz GPU Boost, which makes it faster than a GTX 680 reference card (1006 MHz / 1058 MHz), but slower than the original MSI GeForce GTX 680 Lightning (1110 MHz / 1176 MHz).
We already covered what MSI was showing at CES in their motherboard and video card lines, but they also were showing full system solutions in laptops and tablets. MSI offers a wide variety of gaming laptops that will give you the performance you need while you are on the go. Many of these gaming laptops feature Killer Double Shot networking and SteelSeries backlit keyboards. The highlight for me was the Slidebook S20 convertible Ultrabook. It is essentially a tablet with a slide out keyboard, but will still allow you to be productive on the road. I looks like 2013 is going to be a good year for MSI!
Today we spent a good amount of time up in MSI’s suite at CES. While they may not have had a whole lot of new products they had their best products on display and gave us a very informative overview of each product. Not only that we did get to see a prototype of a new X79 motherboard that is part of MSI’s new gaming line of boards. If you follow MSI I’m sure you know of their Twin Frozr graphics cards. They had a card from each Twin Frozr line going all the way back to 2009! Want to check this all out? Read on!
