NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 960 is here and it is really going to hit that sweet spot for gaming when it comes to the price / performance ratio. MSI of course have released a few different GTX 960 models (4 currently) and today we will be taking a look at their highest performance part the GTX 960 Gaming 2G. This card of course falls in MSI’s very popular gaming line and comes with a factory overclock bringing the core clock up to 1216 MHz and the boost clock up to 1279 MHz. The card also ships with MSI’s new Twin Frozr V cooling solution that has many new improvements that we will go over in detail. Welcome to another Case Mod Friday showcase! This week we have James Fislar’s “Red Dragon” build. This is a completely custom system that James Fislar aka “Jjsky500 PC Mods” built for MSI for CES 2015. As you can see it has a very unique design featuring MSI’s “Dragon” logo. The mod features an X99 system with a custom cooling loop and as you can guess lots of black and red!
MSI showed us a new motherboard that they are working on, the Z97A Gaming 6. It will be their first motherboard to make use of USB 3.1 and use the new C-Type USB connector. The new C-Type USB connector is reversible, which means you can use either end in both your motherboard and whichever peripheral you are using with the motherboard.
MSI has a new flagship headset, DS-502, which is a virtual 7.1 channel gaming headset. MSI has packed in a lot features to DS-502, from improved passive noise-reduction with large sized earpads to better sound quality across the board.
MSI announced their GTX 970 Gaming 4G Golden Edition graphics card not that long ago, but when visiting with them at CES 2015 we were able to get our hands on the card to really check it out. The reason MSI calls this card the golden edition is that the entire heatsink is made of pure copper!
One of MSI’s latest X99 motherboards, the X99S SLI Plus has just achieved the world’s fastest DDR4 memory clock speed. Using Kingston’s HyperX DDR4 4GB memory overclocker Toppc was able to get the memory running at an impressive 4032 MHz!
