A photo of a GeForce GTX 870M has surfaced, along with a GPU-Z screenshot. What is interesting about this is that the codename on the chip does not match anything that we have known before and the chip is not in the Techpowerup database. So what is this chip we are looking at?
The flagship of NVIDIA’s mobility lineup the GeForce GTX 880M has been leaked along with its specifications by Notebook Review. According to this information the GeForce GTX 880M will be based on the current Kepler architecture.
AMD is now going to be presenting what would so far be its best effort in the Mobile Graphics Department and it is ready to roll out the AMD R9 M290X Mobility Flagship which was spotted in MSI’s AG2712A All in One PC. The list of the specs mentioned alongside the details talks about the new product as AMD R9 M290X / 8970M and this might have triggered a thought process because we can recall that the 8970M is actually a rebrand of the 7970M with only a few tweaks here and there with clock speeds and soft upgrades.

AMD has confirmed that they will reveal a new series of discreet mobile GPUs known as the AMD Crystal series. We all know for a fact that earlier launched Solar Series lineup which was also known as the Sea Islands platform was simply a rebrand of the older HD 7000M chips which had faster clock speeds and now have a new code name i.e., Neptune, Sun, Venus etc.
