Lian Li has announced a pretty interesting case in their new PC-Q13 curved case. This case has a curved design that is meant to show off your system through the large acrylic window. I could totally see people using this at shows to show off custom systems. Of course the case is made of all aluminum.
Lian Li has announced two mini-ITX cases featuring their signature blushed aluminum design, the PC-Q27 and PC-Q28. Both cases feature Lian Li’s new railing mount motherboard tray design and allow mini-ITX systems to be installed with traditional full-sized components. Both cases also features an easily removable side panel that only takes a single screw to remove. Read on to learn more about both of these cases.
ASUS has officially launched their GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. If you have been following our coverage of the card you know it is designed specifically for small form factor PC’s with mini ITX motherboards. The card only measures 17cm in length as compared to the reference size of the GTX 670 which is 24.13cm. The card is the exact length of a mini ITX motherboard. This means your mini ITX system can have the power of a GeForce GTX 670 without sacrificing space.
Earlier this month we had our first real look at ASUS’s GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. Those shots were directly from ASUS and were of the card installed so all we could really see was the top of the card and the side. Now we have the first press shot of the 17cm long graphics card that is perfect for that mini PC build as it is the same length as a Mini-ITX motherboard. The card features a pretty attractive shroud with an red and white ASUS logo.
Last week at CeBIT we saw many different companies show off Intel Haswell Z87 motherboards, ASRock included. ASRock also had something else pretty special to show at their booth, A custom Z87 mini-ITX gaming system. ASRock is actually pretty well knows for their mini PC’s, we have reviewed a few over the past couple of years. The system is made up of a few main parts. First the motherboard which is ASRock’s Z87-E ITX. Then you have a custom small form factor case that was co-designed by BMW DesignWorks USA.
Mini-ITX systems are becoming extremely popular. Especially with with popularity of cases like the BitFenix Prodigy and Fractal Design’s Node 304. This issue with many of these mini-ITX cases is that you are not able to fit a full-sized performance video card inside. This is about to change as ASUS is working on their own GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. Most GTX 670’s do have a smaller 6.75″ (~17cm) PCB, but they have larger coolers that exceed that size.
ASRock has launched the industry’s first mini-ITX motherboard that has a total of 8 SATA 6GB/s ports (1 of which is an eSATA port). The 7 internal SATA 6GB/s ports support RAID 0/1/10. The new FM2A85X-ITX is a socket FM2 motherboard that is based on the AMD A85X chipset. This motherboard is going to make many DIY NAS / media center builders happy. Being able to connect up to 8 hard drives means you are going to be able to store quite a lot of data!
Thermaltake, being the industry pioneer brand in PC chassis, power supply and thermal solution, introduces the Mini-ITX Chassis SD101, a case designed exclusively for Mini-ITX motherboards. From petite desktop option to home theatre enjoyment, the minimalistic proportions, yet sleek front panel creates an exquisite lifestyle.
Zotac had some really cool things to show us at CES this year. To start they have a few new versions of their ever-popular ZBOX series of Mini PC’s. They also showed us some of their the Intel 7-Series motherboards and some of their newest Mini-ITX motherboard offerings. On the graphics card side we were shown the GTX 580 Infinity Edition, which is water-cooled with an all in one solution that can be purchased with the card or as a add-on. Read on as Cherry from Zotac gives us a run down of what to expect from Zotac in 2012!
I have to say I am a huge fan of small form factor (SFF) cases. Not only because they are small but I am amazed at all of the features they can pack into such a small case. Today’s case is no exception. It fits Mini-ITX and Mini-DTX motherboards, has internal USB 3.0 and eSATA compatibility, a large 140mm intake fan, room for both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives, a really cool side panel release system and even a handle on top for easy transportation. The case I’m talking about is the PC-TU200 from Lian Li. Read on as we have the review.
