Zotac had some really cool things to show us at CES this year. To start they have a few new versions of their ever-popular ZBOX series of Mini PC’s. They also showed us some of their the Intel 7-Series motherboards and some of their newest Mini-ITX motherboard offerings. On the graphics card side we were shown the GTX 580 Infinity Edition, which is water-cooled with an all in one solution that can be purchased with the card or as a add-on. Read on as Cherry from Zotac gives us a run down of what to expect from Zotac in 2012!
I have to say I am a huge fan of small form factor (SFF) cases. Not only because they are small but I am amazed at all of the features they can pack into such a small case. Today’s case is no exception. It fits Mini-ITX and Mini-DTX motherboards, has internal USB 3.0 and eSATA compatibility, a large 140mm intake fan, room for both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives, a really cool side panel release system and even a handle on top for easy transportation. The case I’m talking about is the PC-TU200 from Lian Li. Read on as we have the review.
Lian Li has been releasing a lot of small form factor cases over the past year. Today you see more and more home media servers and HTPC’s being sold on the market, along with the parts to build your own. I use a home media server for my PS3 and my other computers so that I can transfer and watch movies all over my house. This also gives me the ability to stream music to all of the PC’s and other wireless Devices. With all of our home electronics becoming more and more connected it’s convenient to have a media server. It allows me to control the music and movies in any of the rooms with PC’s on them with either my Android phone or my iPad. The possibilities are endless. In this review we will be taking a look at the Zotac IONITX-P-E which is an Mini-ITX motherboard with the processor embedded in to the motherboard. Mini-ITX is a very small form factor about half the size of a mATX setup.
When it comes to netbooks and small form factor PC’s Intel really has taken over. The Atom chip really made things affordable and gave netbooks enough power to do basic tasks. At CES 2011 AMD announced its Fusion Family of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs). These chips have a single die design with multi-core CPU technology, powerful DirectX 11 discrete level graphics and a dedicated high-definition video acceleration block. AMD sat down with us and discussed their new Fusion APU’s and what products we can expect to see with a Fusion APUs in them.
Mini-ITX motherboards are becoming more and more powerful and with that we can do a lot more with them. Their small size and low cost makes them perfect for home theater PC’s (HTPC’s). When putting together your HTPC system you want a case that is very visually appealing, but still has enough room for all of your media drives and has the necessary connections for easy file transfers. Today we will taking a look at the PC-Q08 from Lian Li which has room for 6 3.5-inch hard drives has 2 front mounted USB 3.0 ports.
We have seen quite a few different test benches over the years here at ThinkComputers. Some have been awesome and some have been downright garbage. A test bench is essentially a computer case or housing that has your motherboard on top or in an accessible area for easy swapping of parts. Test benches are perfect for reviewers like us or people who are constantly changing out their hardware. Recently Lian Li has come out with quite a few test benches, today we will be looking at the PC-Q06, which fits Mini-ITX and ATX motherboards. Let’s take a look…
