Up until now Microsoft has kept pretty quiet about the architectural details of their upcoming next-gen console Xbox One. At Hot Chip 2013 Microsoft unveiled the complete architectural details of the Xbox One, which boasts 5 billion transistors.
It looks like Microsoft will be producing a White version of their upcoming Xbox One console, but don’t get too excited. The white version at least for the time being appears to be limited to Microsoft Employees. Microsoft may offer the white version at a later time, but we have not heard of it being available to non-employees at launch.
A few days ago we reported that Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer announced that he would be retiring from that position within the next 12 months. Steve took the CEO position in 2001 and in that time he oversaw led many operating system and product releases. He was speaking with ZDNet and mentioned that there was one product launch he did regret the most, Windows Vista.
Microsoft has announced today that Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer has decided to retire as CEO within the next 12 months. This will of course take place upon the completion of a process to choose his successor as CEO of the company. In the meantime, Ballmer will continue as CEO and lead Microsoft through the next steps of its transformation to a devices and services company.
Microsoft has just now released a new keyboard along with the combination of mouse called the Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop and trust us, they don’t look like the usual keyboard/mouse at all. Being totally unique in design, unlike the standard keyboard; this one is split into two parts, giving users a reclined angle to work on.
Unfortunately Windows RT (Microsoft’s new operating system developed specially for tablets with ARM chips) is not getting much success. Sales have not been up to mark and pretty disappointing so far. A number of large companies have completely decided to abandon the sales and either move to full version of Windows 8 or Android.
Microsoft has filed exclusive rights application for a new multiplayer gaming headset which encloses features such as voice interaction, eye tracking, facial recognition, accelerometers and gyroscopes, which efficiently sounds like a mixture of Google Glass and Oculus Rift.
To summit it off, Microsoft have also been advertising the “cloud” while they claim it can give the console much better computing power, and definitely a better storage as well. Xbox one can now make use of the limitless sized hard drive space online, our gratitude to Microsoft for permitting users to tap huge amount of servers they’ve setup for the console and Office 365.
According to an analyst of Robert W. Baird, it is most likely that gamers will experience initial shortages during the launch of PlayStation 3 and Xbox One. Complexity involved in each system’s planned launch is being considered one of the main reasons behind the shortages, since its these two new consoles are getting an over whelming response/demand from the users resulting in huge number of pre-orders already. It is definitely creating a complex situation for the companies.
In order to meet the requirements of the users who are looking for a low budget tablets in the market, Microsoft’s Surface Mini is just the right addition to the Microsoft’s portfolio to help capture the lower market price point. It is expected that Microsoft Surface Mini Tablet will arrive in last quarter of the year. Supposedly the price of this tablet would be $299/€230 though Microsoft is still negotiating the price with 2-3 Taiwanese ODM producers about the device. It is just waiting for a right price to be offered.
