AMD has stopped development of its Mantle 3D graphics API for current and future graphics cards. No new optimizations will be made, but current graphics cards will retain Mantle support at the driver level to run existing Mantle applications, but there will be no new updates or performance optimizations from AMD.

The guys over at VideoCardz have published a list of upcoming games to support AMD’s Mantle API. Mantle is currently only supported on a single title right now, which is Battlefield 4. Thief was released last week and while it does not have Mantle yet, it will very soon.
While both AMD and EA released their own benchmarks using the Mantle API, we have been waiting for an independent test and now we have one. The test configurations used by both EA and AMD were a little odd so the guys over at Computerbase.de conducted their own test and the results do not disappoint.
It looks like AMD’s Catalyst 13.35 beta driver has been leaked by Toshiba. This is the first Catalyst driver to include AMD’s Mantle API and TrueAudio. Toshiba actually has listed the driver package on their support site. AMD’s Radeon R2xx series of graphics cards and their new Kaveri APUs will make the most of this driver.
