AMD’s APU project has really progressed over the past year. Ideally we would like an APU to be a 50/50 distribution of CPU and GPU Power. AMD’s upcoming Kaveri APU is the closest thing to it with 47% of it being made up of the GPU. Below you can see a comparison between AMD’s Kaveri and Intel’s Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge and Haswell architecture.
The official debriefing has been given by AMD and it seems like we have a handful of details regarding the next generation Kaveri APU by AMD and this puts a lot on our plates. The upcoming A-Series Kaveri APUs by AMD are going to be branded as A10/A8/A6/A4-7000 series and these are now going to be ready to take place of the A10/A8/A6/A4-6000 series ‘Richland’ APUs.
An engineering sample of AMD’s upcoming Kaveri APU has been spotted as VR-Zone has obtained one. This is AMD’s first HSA supporting APU and is set to launch at CES on January 7th and will be released in the channel shortly after.
We have just received news that AMD will unveil, or at least tease its upcoming next-generation desktop APU, codenamed “Kaveri” on November 11. It will take place at AMD’s APU’13 event, which will go much like their GPU’14 event that took place in Hawaii back in September.
There have been conflicting reports about AMD’s upcoming Kaveri APU. Some people think it will release in February of 2014, while other say we will see it much sooner. Well a few different chinese sites have released performance results from near production samples which makes us think that we may see Kaveri before the end of the year.
