Intel has just released their Xeon E7 v2 processors for high performance computing (HPC) needs. These processors scale up to models that have 15 cores and 30 threads! The models in this series are part of the “Ivytown” series.
Intel’s Xeon E7 “Ivy Bridge-EX” lineup will launch this year and deliver unprecedented amount of performance for high performance computing (HPC) needs. Intel is working on their flagship Xeon E7-8890 V2 chip that is codenamed “Ivytown”.
Intel is on its way to roll out their latest 15 core Xeon E7 Ivy Bridge processor which has been designed exclusively for the high-end servers. This new processor by Intel will add up to the Intel’s Ivy Bridge-EX range which includes the flagship Xeon E7-8800 processor with 15 cores and 30 threads.
