We already know that Intel will be launching its Ivy Bridge-E HEDT platform on September 11, 2013 and now it is all set to Showcase SSD Overclocking at IDF13 San Francisco. Now this might sound weird as SSD overclocking is not something very common. Intel will talk about this new SSD overclocking feature next month and details will be provided on how to overclock the SSD.
Intel will be unveiling their next generation of High End Desktop (HEDT) processors named Ivy Bridge-E on September 11th. ChinaDIY seems to already have received their review sample of the Core i7-4930K processor and have snapped some photos. This is of course an engineering sample (ES). This new i7-4930K would effectively replace the Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E processor.
It is widely known that the six-core Sandy Bridge-E Core i7 processor was actually an eight-core Sandy Bridge-EP Xeon E5 that has two cores and outside QPI turned off. With the Ivy Bridge-E Core i7’s about to launch we wonder if the same holds true?
Intel is gearing up for the launch of their Core i7 “Ivy Bridge-E” high end desktop (HEDT) processors coming up in September. According to reports the Ivy Bridge-E lineup will consist of the Core i7-4960X, Core i7-4930K and the Core i7-4820K. These processors will fit current X79 motherboards with a simple BIOS update. VR-Zone has released the alleged prices of these processors when they come to market.
According to Hermitage Akihabara, Intel Ivy Bridge-E processors will arrive in just 2 months on September 11th. These new bridges are expected to stay ahead of the Sandy Bridge-E line up but shall work on the same socket and X79 chipset with a BIOS update. New amendments of X79 motherboards with BIOS updates will be issued for release to most of the sellers. With its launch, we will see the Intel Core i7 4960K, 4930K and 4820K all releasing too.
Benchmarks of Intel’s upcoming Ivy Bridge-E socket 2011 flagship processor, the Core i7-4960X have surfaced over at Tom’s Hardware. They have already scored an engineering sample of the new chip and have run it through quite a few different benchmarks as well as comparing it to previous Intel generations and AMD’s current generation of chips. These include the i7-3970X, i7-4770K, i7-3770K, i7-2700K, FX-8350, and A10-5800K.
Intel’s Ivy Bridge had issues coping with the heat problem which may have been occurred because of the low quality thermal paste under the IHS (integrated Heat spreader). It was actually tested on a 4.5 GHz over clocked i5 3570K and results showed that using a better quality of thermal paste brought a difference of 8 degrees which was used for temperature reduction purpose. If the step taken by Toppc of Coolaler.com is to be believed then Ivy Bridge-E for X79, LGA 2011 will not have to go through the same problem as it has chosen to use much stronger and stable solder, the one Sandy Bridge has got.
We have heard that Intel’s will be launching their upcoming Ivy Bridge-E HEDT (High-End-Desktop) platform in Q3 of this year. VR-Zone has confirmed this and that the launch of the new processors would take place between the 4-11 of September. A more exact date of the 9th was mentioned, but it is not official.
The guys over at CPU world have stumped upon even more slides from Intel’s desktop roadmap. These slides shed more light on the Haswell mid-range lineup. Last week the Intel’s Haswell desktop processors launched and the initial offering consisted of Core i5 and i7 quad-core models. Now we know Intel will also be offering less expensive products like Core i3 and Pentium CPUs.
Many people have been wondering when we will see more high-end extreme enthusiast processors from Intel. The last Extreme processors Intel released were the LGA2011 Sandy Bridge-E chips. We do know that we will see Ivy Bridge-E processors in Q3 2013, but it seems just a year after Ivy Bridge-E launches it will be replaced by the Haswell-E platform. Haswell-E will be compatible with the X99 chipset that we have been hearing about for a while now and will bring DDR4 to consumers.
