Over the past year Microsoft has hinted that the Internet Explorer brand is going away, but they have now confirmed that they will use a new name for its upcoming browser successor, which is currently codenamed Project Spartan.
It looks like Microsoft is finally putting their foot down. Your old, unpatched browser is not going to cut it anymore, they want you to update and they are going to cut off updates to older versions to make sure that you do.
