In the latest DOTA 2 update there is a new text file called hl3.txt, which inside makes mention of ziplines, squads, citizens, NPCs and VR. Naturally when this was discovered it led certain portions of the internet to completely lose their shit thinking that it was a clue to Half-Life 3 actually coming out.
Half-Life 3 rumors have been going on for YEARS now! Everyone wants to see a third iteration of the very popular game come out and it looks like Valve is teasing anxious gamers again. RagnarRox has said that Valve has scheduled a public press-conference for the 3rd of March at 3 PM. That is the third month of the year, om the third day in that month, at 3 PM. Is this just a simple coincidence?
It looks like people really want Half Life 3. A new project has hit the IndieGogo crowdfunding site seeking $150,000 to pressure Valve into finishing the “game we’ve dreamed about for all these years”. The money raised will not go to any type of game development, but for a media blitz that will target Valve and its employees.
The Half-Life series has been around for the longest time and when it comes to first person shooters, especially single player games Half-Life 2 is always mentioned when talking about one of the best games and storylines. So many of us have waited for a sequel year after year and there has been no announcement from Valve at all. While it may be a far off for the game to actually be released or even announced it has been discovered that Valve has filed for the trademark “Half-Life 3” in both English and French.
For all of those looking for a Valve announcement at E3 for either Half-Life 3 or the rumored Steam Box, it looks like you are not going to get one. Doug Lombardi of Valve Software confirmed that Valve will not be exhibiting at this years E3 event which is to be held June 11-13th. Doug left things pretty simple as you can see below, no really elaborating as to why Valve will not be exhibiting, but we have a few ideas.
