At NVIDIA’s Game24 event the company has launched its next-generation GeForce GTX 900 series. This series is currently made up of the flagship GeForce GTX 980 and followed by the GeForce GTX 970. Both cards are based on NVIDIA’s GM204 “Maxwell” silicon.

The first pictures of the reference-designed NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics card have been revealed. The GeForce GTX 980 will be the flagship graphics card of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 900 series followed by the GeForce GTX 970 and GeForce GTX 960.
The guys over at Coolaler have allegedly been able to get their hands on an upcoming Maxwell GM204 graphics card, from what they are saying it is the GeForce GTX 870. The GPU-Z screenshot that they provide cannot property identify the GPU, but it does read the cards name as “D17U-20″ featuring a GPU name “13C2″. The Device ID and BIOS fields are redacted so we cannot say for sure if this is genuine or not.
According to multiple reports, NVIDIA is looking to unveil its GM204 graphics processor in the next two months. Cloudfire a user on the NotebookReview forums has gathered some information from notebook manufacturers regarding their future products. He has confirmed that NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980M Maxwell flagship will launch in October.
NVIDIA’s GM204 Maxwell graphics cards are expected to launch very soon. From what we know we will see the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 800 Series cards by the end of the year for sure. The cards coming out this year will be based on the 28 nm process.
According to a report by SweClockers NVIDIA is planning to release its next high performance single-GPU graphics cards no later than Q4 of 2014. These cards will incloude the GeForce GTX 880 and the GeForce GTX 870 and they are said to be launching in the October / November time frame.
