We have heard rumors about the GeForce GTX 880 launching in September and it looks like this is all but officially confirmed. In an interview with Expreview at the Chinajoy game developers conference a Gigabyte executive confirmed that NVIDIA will launch the next-generation GeForce GTX 880 in September.
According to VideoCardz, NVIDIA will officially announce the GeForce GTX 880 at some point in mid-September. NVIDIA will be planning a big event for all major press around the world. Expect to see a Maxwell presentation, new hardware and of course Jen-Hsun telling you to buy that new SHIELD Tablet.
The alleged first benchmark of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880 has appeared online recently. The benchmark in question is 3DMark and the score is quite high. We cannot verify the authenticity of the below screenshot, but it does not appear to be doctored.
NVIDIA has been working on their flagship graphics card for the GeForce 800 series, this will effectively replace the 700 series cards. These new cards will feature NVIDIA’s Maxwell graphics processing unit. There have been rumors that NVIDIA will launch this card in Q4 of this year. Chinese website GamerSky has leaked photos of the first engineering sample of the card.
According to a report by SweClockers NVIDIA is planning to release its next high performance single-GPU graphics cards no later than Q4 of 2014. These cards will incloude the GeForce GTX 880 and the GeForce GTX 870 and they are said to be launching in the October / November time frame.
