It looks like ASUS wants to be the first to come out with a mini-ITX friendly GeForce GTX 900 series card. They are putting their final touches on the GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU Mini (model: GTX970-DCMOC-4GD5) graphics card.
ASUS has publicized its new graphics card; the GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU Mini which has been built and designed exclusively for the mini ITX motherboards which are mostly found in the small form factor PCs. Yet the performance of the graphics card is outstanding with the NVIDIA GTX 760 GPU and is perfect to be used for all sorts of tasks. The tiny card is a dual slot and is a mere 17 inches. With a PCB of 170 mm in height, it can be best suited to all space restricted cases. The 8-pin PCIe power connector provides the necessary power to the 5-phase VRM which forms part of this PCB.
We got our first looks at a DirectCU Mini card in the form of ASUS’s GTX 760 DirectCU Mini back at CeBIT 2013. The whole point of the card was to offer a compact version over the normal reference versions and ASUS’s other DirectCU cards. ASUS will soon be updating the line with the GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU Mini. This card will feature the same design, but is powered by a refined GeForce 700 series architecture.
ASUS has officially launched their GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. If you have been following our coverage of the card you know it is designed specifically for small form factor PC’s with mini ITX motherboards. The card only measures 17cm in length as compared to the reference size of the GTX 670 which is 24.13cm. The card is the exact length of a mini ITX motherboard. This means your mini ITX system can have the power of a GeForce GTX 670 without sacrificing space.
Earlier this month we had our first real look at ASUS’s GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. Those shots were directly from ASUS and were of the card installed so all we could really see was the top of the card and the side. Now we have the first press shot of the 17cm long graphics card that is perfect for that mini PC build as it is the same length as a Mini-ITX motherboard. The card features a pretty attractive shroud with an red and white ASUS logo.
Mini-ITX systems are becoming extremely popular. Especially with with popularity of cases like the BitFenix Prodigy and Fractal Design’s Node 304. This issue with many of these mini-ITX cases is that you are not able to fit a full-sized performance video card inside. This is about to change as ASUS is working on their own GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. Most GTX 670’s do have a smaller 6.75″ (~17cm) PCB, but they have larger coolers that exceed that size.
