Swedish case maker Fractal Design showed us its line of cases, from the flagship Define series originally introduced in 2009 to two new lines introduced when the company entered the North American market last year: the minimalistic Core series and the highly affordable Arc series. Also on display was a pair of cases by case modding great Bill Owen of MNPCTech. ThinkComputers’ Colin Dean talks to Fractal Design’s Dan Grossman in this video interview.
Sapphire invited us up to their suite at CES to check out some of their latest products. We were shown their brand new Intel X79 board the Pure Black X9, which has the new PCI-Express 3.0 slots on it. Also on display in their suite was the Edge HD3 Mini PC which uses AMD’s E450 APU. Finally we were shown the Sapphire VID2X. This product takes a single video single and converts it to two full HD DVI signals for a dual-display setup.
I’m sure most of you know about Otterbox, they make protective cases for iPhones and other mobile devices. We stopped over at their booth at the Showstoppers event to check out some of their latest cases. They showed us the Defender, Commuter, Impact and Reflex cases. We were really excited to get up into MSI’s suite at CES to check out their flagship X79 board the Big Bang XPower II. It features a 22-phase hybrid power design, two 8 pin CPU power connectors, and seven PCI-E lanes for up to 4-way Crossfire or SLI. We were also shown MSI’s upcoming Intel 7 Series motherboards and a very cool external enclosure for graphics cards. Read on to check it all out!
Lenovo had their own private booth this year at CES. They showed us their new ThinkPad T430U Ultrabook that features optional discrete 1GB NVIDIA graphics, support for Intel’s latest Core processors and is just under 4LBS. One really cool Ultrabook we were shown was the IdeaPad Yoga. Not only is it 17mm thin the screen can be folded over backwards to transform the Ultrabook into a tablet. Zotac had some really cool things to show us at CES this year. To start they have a few new versions of their ever-popular ZBOX series of Mini PC’s. They also showed us some of their the Intel 7-Series motherboards and some of their newest Mini-ITX motherboard offerings. On the graphics card side we were shown the GTX 580 Infinity Edition, which is water-cooled with an all in one solution that can be purchased with the card or as a add-on. Cooler Master had quite a lot to show us this year at CES! They had new cases from the recently announced Cosmos II to the Striker gaming case, new cooling solutions like the TPC 812 and X6 CPU coolers, and gaming peripherals like the Recon mouse and Quickfire Pro gaming keyboard. I’m sure most of you know ECS mainly for motherboards, but they had some other stuff to show us this year at CES. To start off they showed us their G11 All-In-One DIY barebones system. The system is based on a platform developed by Intel in conjunction with ECS. The other interesting product was the Wi-Bridge which allows you to stream media content to any display using WiFi. We didn’t leave out the motherboards ECS was showing either, read on to check it all out!
This year at CES CyberPower PC had a really awesome system to show us, the Fang III Black Mamba. This system not only boasts an Intel Core i7-3960X CPU and X79 Chipset with quad channel memory it includes Advance Hydro Liquid Cooling Kit with an all new 480mm radiator. The coolest thing about this system is that it is actually 2 systems in one. So you have a full ATX system on the bottom and a Mini-ITX system up that runs Windows Home Server. While at CES this year we had the oppurtunity to talk to Bill Owen who is widely known around the PC modding community and owns MNPCTECH.
