Gigabyte has just announced the J1800N-D2H Mini-ITX motherboard. With this release they join a number of companies offering Bay Trail D compatible motherboards. This board features Intel’s Celeron J1800, which belongs to the Bay Trail D family. It uses the Celeron brand name and is part of the Silvermont architecture. This low-powered SoC is designed for small systems such as HTPC setups.
Intel will soon be rolling out a new NUC form-factor system based on the Atom “Bay Trail” SoC. The product name is the NUC DN2820FYKH and it will run a Celeron N2820 SoC, which is a dual-core 64-bit x86 CPU clocked at 2.4 GHz and a TDP of under 7.5W.
This act saw a price cut that ranged from 4% to 26% and was done for approximately 31 processors by Intel, majority of which were the mobile models. The Core i7-4770R, i5-4670R and i5-4570R were the three low-power Haswell-based chips and these were the only desktop chips which received a cut somewhere between 9% and 11%.
It was known that the Haswell ‘Celeron’ Processors will not be launched till the first quarter of 2014 but Intel has already rolled out two SKUs ahead of the launch date. While these two are available for purchase already, the other will be available next month.
Intel has now introduced its new range of desktop processors with the new models of Ivy Bridge and Haswell. With this expansion of new processors, Intel seemingly wishes to spread out the availability of its processors to additional markets. The new Haswell processors include the variation of the Core i7.
In spite of the fact that Haswell that is considered to be Intel’s latest consumer platform; Intel is still seeking to keep Ivy Bridge and LGA 1155 intact with some more CPU releases. Intel plans to release four new CPUs in the near future which include two Core i5 and two Celeron models.
Intel’s first processor in the BGA package is expected to arrive by the end of this year, according to one of the leaked roadmap slides. Among the first few processors will cover across entry-level market sector, including the Celeron and Pentium brands. Motherboards with BGA processors come with the processors that cannot be the replaced and are hard-wired to the board along with a stock fan-heatsink. The SOC completely put together the processor as far as we know it, with the motherboard chipset.
