With Intel’s introduction of its second generation Core processors the main chipsets you have been hearing about and we have been covering are the P67, H67 and Z68. These chipsets are the mainstream and enthusiasts chipsets that give you everything you would ever want on a motherboard, but what if you are trying to save money? Or just build a simple machine? ASRock has you covered with the H61iCafe motherboard. This board is of course based on the Intel H61 Express Chipset. This board features USB 3.0 connectivity, Graphical UEFI BIOS, and support for Intel’s second generation processors. Let’s check it out!
Welcome, we are going to take a look at The ASRock P55 Extreme4 today. The ASRock P55 is one of the only few high-end motherboards you can buy on the market today. Many of you probably didn’t know that ASRock is a side project of ASUS which was made to compete with Foxconn and ECS motherboards back in 2002, when in 2007 they busted into the market to make higher-end entry boards. Today we will be testing the ASRock P55 Extreme4, one of ASRock’s new motherboards aimed to compete with the big boys in the P55 market. The ASRock is loaded with a ton of features from SATA 3 to USB 3.0 along with much more. So please read on and enjoy as we take a journey through ASRock’s new motherboard.
At the end of last year week took a look at one of ASRock’s first nettop the ION 330HT, which was built around Intel’s Atom processor. With the release of Intel’s Core processors ASRock rebuilt their nettop series around this new architecture. These new nettops bring more processing power, full native 1080p playback, 7.1-channel HD audio, 802.11n wireless networking, and USB 3.0 support. We will be looking at the Core 100HT today which features an Intel Core i3-330M processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 500GB hard drive and a SuperMulti optical drive. Let’s take a look and see if the Core 100HT is perfect for your home theater setup.
The problem is the other new technologies that have just emerged, SATA 6 Gb/s and USB 3. Most of us had no idea that either was in the works when the Core i7/X58 emerged. Going to the expense of buying the new Core i7 980X, you definitely want the latest data transfer technologies, and with an older X58 board, the only way you will get them is with PCI expansion cards. But, the motherboard manufacturers are ready for this, and some have already released new models of X58 boards supporting SATA 6 Gb/s and USB 3. Today I will be looking at the ASRock X58 Extreme 3, their new top-of-the-line board. It not only supports SATA 6 Gb/s and USB 3, but also supports eSATA 6Gb/s. Read on to check out the ASRock X58 Extreme3!
Recently, Bob asked me if I would be interested in reviewing a Mini-ITX motherboard. Since I’ve been interested in a small footprint HTPC rig, so I said yes. Today I will be looking at the ASRock A330ION Mini-ITX motherboard, based on the nVidia MCP7A-ION chipset and complete with an Intel Atom 330 dual core processor. It has onboard nVidia geForce 9 Series graphics, and supports dual channel DDR3 memory. This thing is so small I have to put on my glasses just to see it. Is it true that dynamite comes in small packages? Read on to see!
Prior to about a year ago, ASRock boards were definitely in the economy class. Oh, they were decent, stable motherboards, but they just had the look and feel of inexpensive. Not so today, ASRock’s boards are just as nice as those built by the “household name” companies like Gigabyte, Asus, etc. Today I will be looking at the little brother to the P55 Deluxe, the ASRock P55 Extreme. I suppose “little brother” isn’t the correct term since the two are basically the same board with only one change I can see at first glance, but the savings are significant. As with all ASRock boards, you get what is a full-featured motherboard at an economy price. Read on to check out the P55 Extreme!
Home Theatre PC’s or HTPC’s have been around for a few years now and are very popular. Most people use their old PC for a HTPC. The problem with that is that they are loud, not that powerful, and take up a lot of space. Well ASRock has got your HTPC needs covered with the ION 330HT Nettop that is capable of full 1080p high definition video playback and true-fidelity 7.1 surround sound audio. This system is powered by a Dual Core Intel Atom 330 (1.6GHz) processor, NVIDIA ION Graphics Processor, 2GB DDR2-800 memory, 320GB hard drive, DVD player and even WiFi!
ASRock is definitely not a stranger here at ThinkComputers.org, this will be the 11th ASRock motherboard I’ve reviewed. ASRock is best known for their economy motherboards and their uncommon solutions to common motherboard issues. But the last few ASRock motherboards I’ve looked at, though priced less than the competition, were full featured, well built, and every bit as good as boards from those “household name” companies. Today I will be looking at ASRock’s top P55 motherboard, the P55 Deluxe. It too is a full featured board and carries all of ASRock’s unique features. It is designed for the overclocker and priced for the beginning builder. Will it carry my new i7 860 to glory? Read on to see!
[ad#review1061-top]Earlier in this decade, nobody used AMD chipsets. During the time of Socket A, Socket 754, and Socket 939, there was no question, you used an nVidia nForce motherboard. To tell you the truth, I’m really not sure if AMD even made chipsets at that time, and if they did I have no idea what […]
ASRock appears to have continued this trend. Today I will be looking at ASRock’s new P45 motherboard, the ASRock P45X3 Deluxe. There are some goodies found on this board that aren’t on ASRock’s other P45X3 motherboards. But even with the extras, this board has an incredibly low price. Read on to find out about the ASRock P45X3 Deluxe!
