For the first time in as long as I can remember Antec actually had a booth on the show floor at CES. I think the main reason for this is to gain some traction with their Soundscience Rockus Speakers. Well whatever the reason for Antec returning to the show floor they did have some really cool products to show us, so let’s take a look…
Fremont, CA – December 14, 2010 – In its 25th year anniversary, Antec, Inc., the global leader in high-performance computer components and accessories for the gaming, PC upgrade and Do-It-Yourself markets, today announced its LanBoy Air chassis has secured the prestigious International Forum (iF) Product Design Award 2011 for excellence in design quality in the “Computers” category.
Antec’s LanBoy Air is a state-of-the art, fully modular, open-frame chassis providing limitless configurability and flexibility to high-performance gamers, modders and workstation users. It features cutting-edge cooling and airflow capabilities, an entirely reconfigurable interior with modular drive bays, PSU and motherboard mounts that provide a highly versatile framework (allowing for extensive air ventilation and customization), along with its patented vibration and noise-dampening AirMount™ HDD suspension system.
Antec, a name that is well known and trusted by computer enthusiasts around the world. They have been designing and manufacturing top notch power supplies, enclosures, and cooling accessories for almost 25 years. I have built numerous computers using their products over the years and have always been satisfied, and at times, impressed by them. Today we are looking at one of their latest entries into the computer enclosure market and the newest member of the Lanboy famly of products, the Lanboy Air Blue.
Before we get into the details, we need to take a good hard look at the overall design of this case because trust me, it is like no other case you have ever seen. It is modular and customizable. What does that mean? It means that pretty much every piece can be removed and repositioned to give you somewhere in the area of 35 trillion different ways to configure the case. Yes, I said trillion. That is a very big number.
Earlier this year Antec announced its Dark Fleet case series. It included four different cases, the DF-85 a full tower chassis and three mid tower chassis’s: DF-35, DF-30 and DF-10. Designed to fit the latest components and support the latest technologies. Antec’s introduced two new features with this case line. The first “Fleet-Release” which gains easy access to the hard drive cage, which brings us on to the second feature “Fleet-Swap”, a set of hot swappable drive bays which can be moved up and down the hard drive cage. Read on further to see the many other unique features to this case.
One of the most frustrating things about going to a B.Y.O.C. (Bring your own computer) LAN event is having to carry your system from the car to the setup area. This can be particularly exhausting if the setup area is a great distance away from the entrance to the building, a prime example, PAX Prime 2010 in Seattle, with the BYOC up on the 6th level of the convention. Trying to carry my system on my shoulder and my monitor in the other hand was a most exhausting experience, not to mention uncomfortable as it was a very warm day and left me sweating for a good 20 minutes after reaching the line. Today I take a look at the solution to my problems, the Antec Lanboard. While wandering around PAX, I stopped by the Antec booth and saw this item sitting on display, instantly knowing I had to try it out. As soon as I got home and set up my computer, I was on Antec’s website ordering this to my doorstep.

Antec really has not really introduced anything super ground breaking in a long time. I mean they did start their gaming case line with the 900 case and some other cases followed, but they have had the same style cases for quite some time. This year at CES I was extremely excited when I saw a set of cases that looked nothing like that Antec cases of the past and finally brought them up to date internally. The cases I’m talking about are the Dark Fleet series. This new series has 3 cases, 2 mid towers and 1 full tower. Today we will be looking at the full tower, the DF-85. This case features so many features we can’t list them all here! So go ahead and read on as we check out the Dark Fleet DF-85!
Well as you may have guessed we did not make the trip over to Taipei for Computex this year. We would have loved to make it, but it wasn’t in the cards for us this year. We have been following the show closely and many companies are showing off new products. Antec is one such company showing off new products and some of the same products we saw this year at CES. Although we were unable to make it they were nice enough to make a full booth tour video showcasing all of their products! Read on to check it out!
