Storage, it always seems like we need more of it, especially with file sizes increasing for media and more importantly games. While some of you may have cases that give you ample space to load them up with hard drives there are others who have small form factor system or even work from a laptop where storage space is limited. There is where external hard drive enclosures come into place. Today we are taking a look at a pretty awesome 4-bay external hard drive enclosure that supports 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and has both USB 3.0 and eSATA connections. The enclosure I am talking about is ICY DOCK’s ICYCube MB561U3S-4S. Let’s load it up with drives and see what we can do with it.
Synology America Corp. today announced the most recent update of its entry-level 4-bay DiskStation, the DS413j. The DS413j makes an ideal addition to home networks.
“The DS413j makes for a great upgrade for home users,” said Jason Bonoan, Product Marketing Manager at Synology America Corp. “With everything that DSM brings to the table, it makes for an extremely affordable private cloud solution.” DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.1 brings a host of features to enable users’ private cloud, from folder synchronization to enhanced multimedia streaming services.
Storage is something we can never have too much of, I myself have over 4TB of space and it is running out! Most of my storage is external though, so it’s a pain to take with me to LAN parties or other events. Most cases these days have room for 4-6 hard drives, but for some people that still is not enough. How many optical drives do you have? I don’t even use them anymore so I have 4 open spots in my case for nothing really. Well not nothing, ICY DOCK has a great device that will allow me to fit four more hard drives in three 5.25-inch drive bays. The device is the MB974SP-B, let’s see if it is the perfect device for you to add more storage to your system.
