Synology RT1900AC Dual Band Router Shown Off

Synology is breaking into networking at CES Unveiled 2016. Their first router, RT1900AC, features dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with speeds up to 1900Mbps, and a very user friendly interface that works equally well on desktops or mobile devices.

RT1900AC is powered by a 1.0GHz dual core CPU with 256MB RAM and uses 3×3 MIMO beamforming to supply the device’s 1900Mbps throughput. A USB 3.0 port, and SD Card reader provide support for external devices with a variety of file systems, EXT4, FAT, NTFS, HFS+. Each ethernet port (4 LAN, 1 WAN) is gigabit, and antenna gains are 3.5dBi (2.4GHz), 4.6dBi (5GHz).

Concerned parents can use built-in DNS filtering to block nefarious websites according preset categories such as Adult, Social Networks, Chat, and Violence. Also on the list of preset categories is Malware, Advertisements, and Phishing, allowing anyone to add an extra layer of protection against common attacks or annoying advertisements.

Synology also created a robust help system to explain every technical networking term that newcomers, or even advanced users may not fully understand.

RT1900AC is expected to launch soon in 2016 for $149.99.
