Sunbeam Airbox 3.5-inch External Hard Drive Enclosure Review

Testing
We used a Maxtor hard drive to test the speeds of the enclosure. Like most of our hard drive tests we used HD Tune to test the speeds of the enclosure. Because we used a laptop for testing we were limited to testing only the USB connection.

Final Thoughts
After using the Airbox External SATA Enclosure for a couple of weeks, it has quickly become my favorite drive. Sporting great looks, good protection, and a modest price ($30-$35 at most e-tailers), the Airbox is an easy pick when shopping for a new hard drive enclosure. The fact that the drive is hot-swappable via the eSATA interface and also utilizes the convenient USB interface just sweetens the deal. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Sunbeam Airbox 3.5-inch External Hard Drive Enclosure a 9 out of 10 score.

rating9 10 small

Pros:
– eSATA Hot-Swap as well as USB interface
– Super cooling performance
– Looks great with the Blue LED and brushed aluminum

Cons:
– The LED On/Off button was a bit moody (could have been just the one I sampled)
