SteelSeries Announces the Siberia Elite Headset

The SteelSeries Siberia headsets have been extremely popular over the years and today SteelSeries is announcing the newest member to the series the Siberia Elite Headset. The Siberia Elite Headset is equipped with Dolby technology for realistic 7.1 virtual surround sound.

The Siberia Elite Headset uses the signature Siberia self-adjusting suspension system connected to a sandblasted steel arc. The ear cushions are made of memory foam and are extra large. There are dials on the earcups to control audio volume and microphone mute. Illumination on the earcups can be chosen by the user with a choice of 16.8 million color options. The headset ships with SteelSeries Engine 3 software that allows users to customize settings and just makes using the headset much easier.

The headset uses a USB soundcard that provides users with a suite of Dolby technologies. These include:

– Dolby Headphone converts multichannel sound from movies and games and delivers up to 7.1-channel surround sound in your headset.
– Dolby Prologic IIx provides upgrades your audio into a surround sound experience; this technology converts a simple stereo signal into a rich, surround sound experience as well as converts a true 5.1 signal into a full 7.1 surround.

The headset will be available in both black and white versions and will be available for pre-order starting in September. The expected MSRP is $199.99.
