This year was a great one for gamers with some of the most anticipated games of all time coming out. Steam Spy creator Sergey Galyonkin has put together a report on Medium revealing preliminary results for on Valve’s digital PC video game content distribution platform Steam. This report lists games that sold the most copies globally in 2015 as well as offering sales data for games sold in each individual region.
You might find these results a little interesting as two of the most popular games of 2015 are not ranked #1 on the list. The worldwide sales chart shows that Grand Theft Auto V is ranked #2 and Fallout 4 is ranked #3, so what is #1? Valve’s own 2012 first-person shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive! It sold just over 5.6 million units worldwide!
There is also a chart that shows only games that were released in 2015. Number 1 on that list is Grand Theft Auto V, followed by Fallout 4, then ARK: Survival Evolved, then H1Z1 and finally Rocket League.
It’s also important to note that the data only includes activations from April, 1st of 2015 to December, 20th of 2015. There is no data before this point. The post also shows to charts for each individual region.
