Start Button Featured in new Windows 8.1 Ad

The Windows Start Button was first featured in Microsoft’s release of Windows 95 and continued to be in Microsoft’s popular operating system until Windows 8 was released. This upset many people so in the first major update to Windows 8 Microsoft is bringing back the Start Button.

A new ad on Microsoft’s YouTube page features the Start button in action. Crazy to think that the Start Button turns 18 years old this August! Another thing that is shown in this ad is the ability to boot right to the Windows 8 desktop, skipping the unpopular Metro UI completely. Check out the ad below.

Windows 8.1 will be released on October 17th.
