Sparkle Calibre P980X+ geForce 9800GTX+ 512MB Video Card Review

A Closer Look
The P980X+ is a full-sized card, right at 11″ long. It is a member of Sparkle’s Calibre series, clearly stated by the logo on the cooler.

The GPU is overclocked to 761mHz, as opposed to the reference clock of 738mHz. Memory is clocked to 1161mHz (reference is 1100), and shaders are clocked to 1911mHz (reference is 1836). It is a 55nm GPU, which makes it much more efficient than the 65nm 9800GTX.

The cooler is a twin heatpipe/dual fan cooler. It faintly resembles Thermaltake’s Orb series due to the circular design, but the resemblance stops there. The cooler takes two expansion slots.or does it?

If your rig’s configuration does not limit your card to two expansion spaces, you can flip the fans up to direct the warm exhaust air away from the card’s surface, making the fans breathe better. Isn’t that a cool idea!

Besides the twin coolers, the base also has pin-fins for additional heat transfer. The base is a combination of copper and alloy. The memory chips each have ramsinks to keep them nice and cool.

The card’s power supply has its own heatsink.
