Shuttle X50 All-in-One PC Review

X50 Overview

This is for sure an All-in-One computer! The entire thing basically looks like an overly-large monitor or TV. Let’s start with the screen on the X50 it is a 15.6-inch widescreen panel giving you a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768. One thing that set’s the X50 apart from other nettop’s is that this screen is actually a touch screen, although it is single touch, unlike the HP TouchSmart PC.

The design of the X50 is very clean and stylish. Around the screen is a nice pearl while plastic and a single Shuttle logo in the middle. Of course this is the white version of the X50, but it also comes in black as well. Along the bottom is a speaker panel that houses 2 2W speakers. Also embedded in the left part of the speaker are LED’s for WiFi, hard drive activity, etc. Towards the top of the display you will notice the webcam, which is a 1.3-Megapixel camera, also there is a microphone.

Turing the X50 to the side we can see it is quite thin, which not only makes it look sleek it saves room on your desk. At its widest point it is only 1.4-inches thick! At the top you have the power button and towards the bottom you have a selector button that will toggle in between the screen brightness and the light bar on the bottom and a +/- button that will adjust those settings. Behind those buttons are 2 USB ports and the power connection. Also hidden in the back of the display is a stylus.

On the other side you have a card reader, 3 USB ports, audio connections, Ethernet port and some ventilation holes. So in total you have 4 USB ports, which is a good amount for a nettop. Holding the display up is a large metal stand that can be adjusted to how much of an angle you want the display to be at. The stand is very sturdy so you don’t have to worry about the X50 falling over.

Also on the back of the display is a VGA out connection, more ventilation holes and a lock port.

Finally if we look at the bottom of the display we can see the light bar. It extends across most of X50. On the 2 “feet” of the X50 are rubber bottoms to make sure the X50 stays in place and does not mark up your desk.
