Seagate Working on 6TB Hard Drive for Q2

Seagate is said to be working on a 6TB hard drive, which they plan to roll out around the April-June time frame (Q2). According to the leaked company road maps the drive is likely to be released later in the quarter and could be branded in the new Constellation ES.3 Megalodon series.

The drive will be a 3.5-inch form factor drive, however we we are not sure on what the interface might be (SAS or SATA). Inside of the drive are six 1000 GB platters. For comparison HGST’s 6 TB Helium drive has seven 857 GB platters inside. Seagate could also give this drive 7,200 RPM spindle speeds.
