Testing – Gaming
Our first game test is Crysis Warhead. This game crushes most systems out there and is very graphics and memory intensive. We used the Framebuffer Crysis Warhead benchmark tool. We used the Gamer setting with a 1680 x 1050 resolution on the ambush demo. We changed antialiasing on each of the 4 tests.
The Resident Evil 5 benchmark is next. This is the standalone benchmark, which is free to download. It offers both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 benchmarks. We ran the standard benchmarks with all high settings at 1680 x 1050 resolution and changed antialiasing on each of the 4 tests.
Interesting enough on this test the 5850 performed better, not by much just a few FPS.
The Alien vs. Predator benchmark is next, it is also a standalone benchmark. As with many of the already released DirectX 11 benchmarks, the Aliens vs. Predator DirectX 11 benchmark leverages your DirectX 11 hardware to provide an immersive game play experience through the use of DirectX 11 Tessellation and DirectX 11 Advanced Shadow features. In Aliens vs. Predator, DirectX 11 Geometry Tessellation is applied in an effective manner to enhance and more accurately depict HR Giger’s famous Alien design. We ran the benchmark at high settings and changed antialiasing on each of the 3 tests.
Our final game test is DiRT 2, which is a DirectX 11 game. We used the built in benchmarking tool with all the settings set to high, antialiasing set to 8x and the resolution set at 1680 x 1050.
The HD 6850 is beat out the HD 5850 in all of the tests except the Alien vs. Predator benchmark.
Would be great if the GPU on the Fusion chips would be the equivalent of the 5770
Did you notice in GPUZ it showed 1120 SP not 960? There are other sites reporting the same thing with their review samples.
They were given the wrong samples go to Modders-Inc for a review with the correct card
Nice shill graphic for Dirt 2. A 2 FPS difference in the cards and yet you feel the need to change that graphic’s style to make it look like the 6850 is doing way better than it did.

I upgraded to this card from an Intel GTS 240 which was a weak, overheating, very low end graphics card factory installed by Dell. I did not see any mention here of the ATI Overdrive software included with the card that gives easy and smooth custom alteration of GPU, Memory and Fan speed settings. I usually increase fan speed before entering heavy intensive gaming resulting in very cool sessions. I purchased mine for $179.00 from Newegg before they raised the price to $200.00 when they saw the demand increasing. This is a sweet powerful and future proofed card any gaming person would love to install in their system.
