Temperatures and TriXX Software
This card uses Sapphire’s custom heatpipe cooler, so it should do a better job at cooling compared to reference cards. Here are the results from our temperature test.
As you can see it did very well, the only card that beat it was the ASUS HD 6870 DirectCU, which also features a custom cooler.
Sapphire’s TriXX software is very useful and can be downloaded for free directly from Sapphire. It allows you to monitor, overclock and tweak the settings of your card. This software would not work on previous 5800-series cards from Sapphire, but it will work on the new HD 5830 and HD 5850 Xtreme cards. When you open the TriXX software you will see an info pane with all of the information on the card. Moving over the the overclocking tab there are sliders for the core clock, memory clock, and GPU voltage. You are also able to save up to 4 profiles.
The fan control tab allows you to see the current fan speed and adjust it to your liking by either setting it on automatic, fixed or custom. Finally the last tab is the settings, which a pretty self-explanatory.
