Samsung SyncMaster 2233SW 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor Review

SyncMaster 2233SW Overview

As I said this is a refurbished unit so it has been used. After getting it all unpacked I did notice a few scratches and scuff marks, but nothing major. This is a 22-inch widescreen display, which has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. If that number looks weird it is not a typo, this is a 16:9 display meaning it is a bit wider than the normal widescreen’s you are used to seeing. These displays are becoming more common and most companies are manufacturing them, we reviewed the ViewSonic VX2433wm a while back.

The design of the SyncMaster 2233SW is very sleek and eye-catching. They use an all glossy black finish for both the display and the stand. There is a single Samsung logo in the center of the display, that is it Samsung keeps it sleek and simple. Turing the display to its side we can see how thin it is, it is only 2.8-inches thick at its deepest point. On the side you have all of your power and control buttons, we will get into which each one does later in the review.

The back of the display is also glossy. The back also has some sort of design on it which at first I thought was the speakers but there are actually no speakers on this display at all. As far as connections you only have VGA and DVI, no HDMI here. The stand on the 2233SW allows you to pivot the display back and forward, but really not that much. I would have liked to see a little more movement and the ability to move the display up and down.
