Final Thoughts
It has been a real joy using the Samsung CF791 display over the past few weeks. It is not often I am very impressed with a piece of technology, but with the CF791 I am basically like “Samsung take my money”, it really is that good! I feel like Samsung has created the perfect monitor for someone like me. I need to be ultra-productive, but I also enjoy gaming. I am a casual gamer, but when I am gaming I want to play at my best.
This 34-inch display has a 34-inch WQHD (3440×1440) resolution which is great for being productive. I can easily have two windows up on the screen at the same time, just like how I used to have with my dual-monitor setup. The best part about this is that I don’t have borders anymore! My biggest fear with going back to a single screen was not having enough room and not liking snapping windows etc. Well after my experience with the CF791 ultra-wide is the way to go! And once you experience it you won’t go back! I an easily have Word open on one side of the screen and Chrome open on the other doing research on the article I am writing. This display is made for being productive and has totally increased my productivity.
One of the best things about this display is the Quantum Dot technology. These little semiconductor nanocrystals inside the display bring us better color accuracy and saturation as well as higher peak brightness. If you sit this display next to a normal display you’ll immediately be able to tell the difference between the too and believe me the colors and brightness on the CF791 are extremely impressive. This make it the perfect display to do serious photo and video editing on as the display supports up to 125% of the sRGB color space.
Now in no way is this a hardcore gaming monitor. Hardcore gamers want 144 Hz and 1ms response time. But if you are a gamer this display will suit your needs quite well. It has a 100 Hz refresh rate and AMD’s Freesync technology. During my gaming sessions on the display I did not notice any input lag, motion blur, or ghosting. The 1500R curve also made gaming very immersive.
At the end of the day Samsung has created a great all around monitor that professionals, designers, and gamers will enjoy. As I said for someone like me it is pretty much the perfect monitor. Now this monitor is not going to come cheap given the Quantum Dot technology and other features. Right now it is selling at our favorite online retailer for $948.99.
