Samson StudioDock 3i iPod Speaker System Review

StudioDock 3i Overview

The StudioDock is of course made up of 2 separate speakers. Each speaker features a 3.25-inch copolymer woofer, with a Santoprene surround for high excursion and internal damping and a precision made 25mm silk dome tweeter with a neodymium motor structure for smooth, extended high frequency response that reduces listener fatigue. You will get 30 watts of power out of this system as well (2 x 15w).

All of your controls and inputs are on one speaker. On the top you will find the iPod dock, this dock will work with basically any iPod with a dock connector. On the front you have your power button that also acts as a volume knob, auxiliary input, and headphone jack.

Moving around back there is a lot to look at. Starting from the top you have your USB connection. Not only do these speakers act as a dock connector for your iPod to sync with iTunes they also can be used as USB speakers for your computer. Next you have your RCA inputs if you wanted to use something other than your computer with these speakers. Below that is the left speaker connections, which use good old plain speaker wire, which is included. Towards the bottom you have the power button and the power connection.

Getting the unit setup as an iPod speaker system is quite simple just attach the second speaker with the speaker wire (one of the wires is dotted so you can match them up), next plug in the power, finally connect your iPod or iPhone to the dock and your ready to go.
