ROCCAT Renga Gaming Headset Review

Usage & Final Thoughts
I have been using the Renga headset for a few weeks now as my daily headset, replacing the HyperX Cloud Revolver. The first thing that I noticed when I put the headset on was just how light it was. It really is a big different from the Cloud Revolver and other headsets we have laying around the office. The ventilated ear cups are very interesting as well. They sort of give you a less immersive feeling, but the ventilation is welcomed as your ears are able to get air. This means that during long gaming sessions your hears will be very comfortable and because the headset is so light it did notice any strain on the top of my head or my ears.

Besides comfort the next most important thing about this headset is the sound. I instantly noticed that this headset sounded different from others out there. There was definitely less bass and the sound seemed to be very direct. This type of sound is incredibly great for gaming. For instance while playing Gears of War 4 and Payday 2 I could hear enemies coming and could tell where they were coming from. This is what a competitive gaming headset should do. Gaming sound is clear and precise. Now when it comes to enjoying movies and listening to music, while this headset is good, the way it is tuned there are definitely better headsets out there. One thing you’ll notice is the lack of big powerful bass.

I do see two things I would have liked to have seen with this headset. First the microphone is not removable from the headset. If I want to use this headset to listen to music or with my mobile device I do not want to have the microphone connected. Yes, I know I can put it up, but being able to remove it is so much better. Secondly, this headset is so light, but it does not offer a lay-flat or foldable design for easy transport.

At the end of the day the ROCCAT Renga is a great gaming headset and hats off to ROCCAT for tuning the drivers specifically for gaming, not all-around sound like so many other headsets out there. ROCCAT also designed this headset for long hours of competitive gaming with its lightweight design and ventilated earcups. Right now you can pickup this headset at our favorite online retailer for $44.99. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ROCCAT Renga Gaming Headset an 8 out of 10 score.
