ROCCAT Kave XTD 5.1 Digital Overview
The Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital headset is setup with the same color scheme as the rest of Rocca’s gear, shiny black with a matte black finish.
The ear cups on the Kave XTD are also rounded with the matte finish with their logo and name. On the inside of the ear cups you can see the star shaped plastic divider which probably helps to send the sound out from the different speakers. Each ear cup features two 40 mm drivers and a 30 mm vibration unit.
Headband padding is a make or break area for most companies. The Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital headset has some of the softest padding on the market. It is a squishy padding with a thin cloth over it to make it not hold in your heat from your head. The side of the headband we have numbers so we can see how big our head is or to keep track of your head size. The top of the headband of the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital has a recessed Roccat letter name.
The microphone is durable with slim look, there is also a blue led in the end of the microphone to let you know if you have the microphone muted. The microphone is also detachable.
One of the pretty cool things about the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital headset is the desktop controller which is also the soundcard as well. On the bottom left of the controller you have the call button which will work if you have your cellphone or device hooked up via Bluetooth. The bottom right is the microphone mute button. The bottom middle of the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital you will see the Bluetooth logo which will light up blue when you have your cellphone paired with the controller.
When you move in in for a closer look into the controller you will that on the top left you have a movie button, a channel button for changing each channels sound levels to your liking and also a button for speakers so you can go from headset to speakers without changing out cords or disabling anything. Also a pretty big volume knob for controlling sound and audio levels. The rear of the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital controller you will have your speaker connections, be it stereo or 5.1.
The USB cable for the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 Digital is not sleeved but is a thick rubber coating and has a nice velcro cable tie.
