Raidmax Monster II PC Case Review

A Look Inside
Getting inside the Monster II is quite easy as the side panels have thumbscrews on them. Taking a first look inside there is a good bit of room, but the case is smaller inside than most. You can see that Raidmax has divided the case into two sections, with a large PSU cover towards the bottom of the case.

Starting at the front of the case we have our two 5.25-inch drive bays, these use a simple tool-less locking system. The entire 5.25-inch drive cage can be removed if you don’t plan on using it.

Moving down we can see the included 140 mm blue LED fan, again there is room for a second 140 mm or if you wanted two 120 mm fans. There is room for watercooling radiators up to 280 mm in the front, but if you look at the space it does not look like you are going to be able to do a push-pull setup.

The power supply cover takes up almost the entire bottom section of the case. It is cut off at the front to make room for fans or watercooling components. There are three cable routing holes in the power supply cover, specifically made for your graphics card, front panel connections on your motherboard and the HD audio header on your motherboard.

The Monster II supports mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, and ATX motherboards. There is a very large CPU cutout in the motherboard tray that will allow you to install an aftermarket CPU cooler without having to remove your motherboard from the case.

Taking the second side panel off the case we can see how the rest of the case is set up. All of your front panel cables are routed around this side of the case, they include a USB 3.0 internal connector, HD audio connector, and your typical front panel connectors.

Towards the front of the case there are two removable 2.5-inch solid state drive mounts. It is great to see this as make use of space that would otherwise be unused. All you have to do is remove a single thumbscrews and take each mount out to install your solid state drive.

Moving down there is a hard drive cage that have two hard drive trays. These trays support 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives. They also are removable and use a single thumbscrew. This hard drive can be completely removed from the case as well.
