Phanteks PH-TC14CS CPU Cooler Review

Phanteks PH-TC14CS Overview
The PH-TC14CS is a C-type CPU cooler, meaning that the CPU base, heatpipes and heatsink make a “C”.  Also this is a down draft cooler as the fans will blow down on the CPU socket thus cooling the components around the CPU as well.  We received the blue version of the cooler, but as I said it comes in quite a few other colors.

The aluminum heatsink measures 143.8 x 140 x 112mm and is made up 42 fins that are placed 2mm apart.  There is a nice embossed Phanteks logo on the end of the fins.

Five large heatpipes come up from the base and are spread out in a uniform pattern across the heatsink.  Each of these heatpipes are made of copper with nickel plating.  They make contact with the heatsink using C.P.S.C. technology (Cold Plasma Spraying Coating).  All five of the heatpipes are soldered into the coolers base.  There is a small visible opening though.

The base itself is made up of two parts that fit around the heatpipes, which are both copper with a nickel plating.  The finish of the base is not a mirror-like finish we’ve seen on many other CPU coolers, it is noticeably convex.

The 140mm fans that come with the PH-TC14CS are Phanteks own PH-T140 fans.  Their blades match the color of the heatsink, which is pretty cool.  These fans are also nicely sleeved and use 3pin connectors.
