Viper Xtreme Division 2 Overview
We received the 8GB PC3-15000 1866MHz version of this memory. It is also available in 4GB capacities and 1600MHz and 2133MHz versions. Patriot’s Viper Xtreme Series, Division 2 Edition memory kits are designed for Intel’s® 2nd Generation Core™ processors. They have been rigorously tested and validated on the Intel® 6 Series platform to achieve maximum performance and stability.
The modules themselves look almost identical to the Viper Xtreme memory we reviewed a little while ago. The only thing that is different is the PCB, Patriot has gone with green instead of black. I do like black better, but I guess this is to distinguish the Division 2 from the Viper Xtreme. The heatspreader is an extruded aluminum outer shield built around a copper core. Each module has 6 grams of copper at it’s core paired with an extruded aircraft-grade aluminum outer shield. This will provide excellent cooling.
On the backside of each module is a sticker will all the information you need to know about the modules. You have the capacity (8GB), voltage (1.65V), speed (1866MHz) and timings (9-11-9-27).
There are 5 heatsink fins on each end of the modules. You can actually see the copper core behind these fins. The heatspreaders are not that large so you won’t have to worry about clearance that much.
Make
it Easy to Comment I leave a lot of comments on a lot of blogs each week
– but there is one situation where I rarely leave a comment – even if the post
deserves it – blogs that require me to login before making a comment. Maybe I’m
lazy (actually there’s no maybe about it) or maybe there’s something inside me
that worries about giving out my personal details..
