Patriot Viper 4 DDR4-3400 8GB Memory Kit Review

Overclocking
Overclocking on the Intel Z170 platform is pretty easy. The easiest way to overclock would be up simply change the frequency divider in the BIOS. To achieve the best overclock we try to stay with the timings that the XMP profile recommends, but we will loosen or tighten timings to get the best overclock possible.

Now when you enable the XMP profile on this kit it actually bumps the BCLK frequency up to 102.10.

Keeping with that setup the next step up from 3402 MHz is 3539 MHz. Just changing the memory setting the system was unable to boot. I decided to see if I could loosen the timings a bit, but that was a no-go either. On a last ditch effort I started to bump the voltage up. I was able to get the memory up to 3539 MHz with timings of 18-18-36 at 1.45V.

I was unable to get the memory to boot any higher than that.
