Patriot Supersonic 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Final Thoughts
With USB 3.0 you are definitely going to see a speed increase over USB 2.0.  The thing is many devices are not yet capable of taking full advantage of the available bandwidth of USB 3.0.  Patriot does a great job with the Supersonic drive.  The drive was designed with quad-channel technology and a native USB 3.0 controller, which makes it one of the fastest USB 3.0 drives available.  This drive has a rated read speed of 100MB/s and in all of our tests it exceeded that, which is very impressive!  Most of the time with storage devices they just make it to the rated speed, but are normally below that in testing.

The drive itself is very small and can easily be put in your pocket or stored in a laptop bag.  The aluminum outer shell adds some nice protection in case you do drop the drive.  Also the drive is backwards-compatible so if you are transferring files between two systems and one does not have USB 3.0 connectivity you don’t have to worry about it.

Right now the 32GB version, which we reviewed sells for $84.99, but has a mail in rebate bringing it down to $59.99.  The Supersonic is also available in a 64GB version which sells for $144.99 with the rebate.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Patriot Supersonic 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
