The first time I heard of the Cyborg S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 Gaming Keyboard I was like “damn that is sweet!”. We have seen quite a few different gaming keyboards here at ThinkComputers, but we have not seen a modular gaming keyboard. The Cyborg S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 has 7 different modular pieces that enable you to configure it in quite a few different ways. Did I mention this keyboard also has a touchscreen LCD that you can use to launch programs, change the colors of the keyboard and much more. So let’s get right into it! A few months back Cooler Master allowed me to review The CM Storm Quick Fire Pro (QFP). You can check out the review here. In that review I proclaimed that “Cooler Master hit the nail on the head when focusing on the important aspects of a gaming keyboard.” If you read the review you’ll know that I really liked the Quick Fire Pro and then Cooler Master up and HAD to send me the CM Storm Trigger. The CM Storm Trigger Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for all intents and purposes is the “smarter hotter sister” of the Quick Fire Pro. Even though I’ve been hooked on the Roccat ISKU Illuminated Gaming Keyboard recently why do I feel like I’m cheating? I really need to get out more…
The CM Storm Trigger Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is the first gaming keyboard that Bob asked me to review in what I refer to as the “dime-piece” category. For the most part, regardless of price, the recent gaming keyboards I’ve reviewed for ThinkComputers have been in the Mid-Upper price tier of gaming peripheral products. The Trigger on the other hand is in the highest price tier and is supposed to be the best of the best that Cooler Master has to offer. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype.
Not that long ago we took a look at the CM Storm Quick Fire Pro Gaming Keyboard, now we are back with the CM Storm Trigger Gaming Keyboard! Every once in a blue moon I’ll be perusing the interwebs and I’ll see a nifty ad that I’ll actually click on. God forbid that I actually click on an ad with the chance that I might inadvertently install a virus that will eat my computers insides, BUT when that blue moon happens I set all care aside and do it anyways. During one of those very select times I saw an ad for a rather compelling keyboard made by this company that I’ve never heard of: Roccat. After clicking on the ad I was transported to a black and blue world of epic gaming peripherals. After flipping through a couple of the very sexy products it took me about negative 4 seconds to message Bob via Facebook and say, “You need to get products from this company called Roccat”. He replied instantly with something that made me quite happy, “They’re already on their way, a keyboard and mouse.” First on the agenda is the ISKU Illuminated Gaming Keyboard. From what I saw on the website I should be expecting a lot but after reviewing more keyboards and mice than I care to think about I know that I should never judge a book by its cover, even though this book looks cool as funk.
ROCCAT has been making a name for themselves over the past year or so. Their products have been exclusively sold overseas, but starting this year they have moved into the US. We first talked to them at CES and today we are checking out our first ROCCAT product, the Isku Illuminated Gaming Keyboard. This keyboard has so many features geared toward gamers and also looks great. Read on to check out our unboxing and overview video to learn all about this new keyboard.
The Spawn is one hell of a gaming mouse. By far, the best $40 mouse I’ve ever used. So, when Bob asked me to take a look at the CM Storm Quick Fire Pro Mechanical Gaming Keyboard I was very enthusiastic about the opportunity. I don’t have much history with Cooler Master’s line of products and only thing that I consistently purchased from Cooler Master was aftermarket CPU coolers, considered to be some of the best in the industry. But, now that all these component companies are diving full force into the gaming peripheral market and I’m truly excited to see what the “Storm” will bring (pun intended).
It seems everyone has a gaming keyboard now and Cooler Master has quite a few in their CM Storm line of gaming products. Today we are unboxing the Quick Fire Pro, which is a mechanical gaming keyboard. This keyboard features the Cherry MX mechanical key switches, full NKRO support via USB, multimedia shortcut keys, and it is partially backlit with red LED lights. Is this your next gaming keyboard?
