When it comes to building a PC the power supply is something that is often overlooked and really at the bottom of the component list. Many people want a quality power supply that is feature rich, but do not want to pay the premium cost. This is where NZXT comes in with the HALE82 V2 power supply. Their main goal with this power supply is to bring consumers a high performance, feature-rich power supply without the premium price tag. Today we are taking a look at the 550W version that features a fully modular design, 80PLUS Bronze certification, 135mm silent fan, and a single +12V rail. Is this the power supply for your next build? Read on as we find out.
be quiet! has been the leading manufacturer of power supplies in Germany and over the past year we have introduced many of their products to the US audience. be quiet! may not be a name we know all that well here in America when it comes to power supplies, but in the European market they have really made a name for themselves and are planning to do the same here in the states. Not that long ago we took a look at the Dark Power Pro 10 from be quiet! and we were extremely impressed. While this was one of the top of the line units from be quiet! the unit we are taking a look at today is more mainstream. The whole idea behind the Pure Power L8 600W unit is to deliver an affordable unit that does not compromise on quality. This unit features an 80PLUS Bronze certification, a 120 mm silence optimized fan and of course the quality we expect from be quiet!.

When developing the V-Series power supplies Cooler Master had one thing in mind. They wanted their name to be what you thought of when you were looking to buy a new power supply or upgrade your current one. The V-Series design is based on a brand new platform that makes use of Japanese capacitors, most of them solid capacitors, as well as a high quality 42 mm transformer. This means the power supply will have outstanding efficiency and stability. Today we are taking a look at the V850 which features a single 12V rail, an 80PLUS Gold certification, a silent 135mm fan and an all modular design. Read on as we take a look…
When it comes to power supplies we know that the 80 PLUS certifications are very important. The certification lets consumers know how efficient the power supply they are purchasing is. Currently the highest certification in the US is 80 PLUS Platinum, which offers 92% efficiency at 50% load and 89% efficiency at 100% load. Today we will be taking a look at one such 80 PLUS Platinum certified power supply in Rosewill’s Tachyon 750W unit. This power supply features a single 12V rail design, semi-modular cables, and a silent 140mm fan. Let’s take a look!
EVGA has made a new addition of platinum series power supply to its full line with the new SuperNOVA 1000 P2. It is rated as 80 PLUS Platinum rated with an efficiency of 92% under standard load. Like most companies Thermaltake has an entire range of power supplies from the high-end to something for people looking to save some money. Not everyone has the money to throw at a top of the line power supply and Thermaltake knows this. Today we are taking a look at one of their more mainstream power supplies in the Smart SP-750P 750W Power Supply. This unit lacks some of the high-end features like modular cables and Over Temperature Protection, but you do get things like an 80PLUS Bronze certification, flat low profile cables, a single 12V rail design and of course a much lower price tag. Let’s take the Smart 750W through the paces and see how it works out.

This power supply is currently selling for $89.99 at my favorite online retailer. It features a 80PLUS Bronze certification, a silent temperature controlled fan and the great styling we know from Fractal Design. This power supply is a great choice for anyone who is on a budget for a power supply, especially if you are not looking for a modular power supply. Let’s take a look…
Enermax is a brand whose strong product is their power supplies, especially when it comes to the high-end spectrum. Their Platimax and MAXREVO units are some of the best out there. But these units are not cheap in terms of cost. Enermax knows not everyone has a ton of cash to throw at a new power supply so they have created the Triathlor series of power supplies. There are actually the Triathlor and Triathlor FC units. The Triathlor units are lower wattage and non-modular and the Triathlor FC units are higher wattage and are modular. Today we are checking out the Triathlor FC 550W unit which is 80PLUS Bronze certified and offers quiet operation.
