When it comes to power supplies we know that the 80 PLUS certifications are very important. The certification lets consumers know how efficient the power supply they are purchasing is. Currently the highest certification in the US is 80 PLUS Platinum, which offers 92% efficiency at 50% load and 89% efficiency at 100% load. Today we will be taking a look at one such 80 PLUS Platinum certified power supply in Rosewill’s Tachyon 750W unit. This power supply features a single 12V rail design, semi-modular cables, and a silent 140mm fan. Let’s take a look!
EVGA has made a new addition of platinum series power supply to its full line with the new SuperNOVA 1000 P2. It is rated as 80 PLUS Platinum rated with an efficiency of 92% under standard load. It is equipped with the ECO Thermal Control Fan System which is capable to provide zero noise under less load operations.
Like most companies Thermaltake has an entire range of power supplies from the high-end to something for people looking to save some money. Not everyone has the money to throw at a top of the line power supply and Thermaltake knows this. Today we are taking a look at one of their more mainstream power supplies in the Smart SP-750P 750W Power Supply. This unit lacks some of the high-end features like modular cables and Over Temperature Protection, but you do get things like an 80PLUS Bronze certification, flat low profile cables, a single 12V rail design and of course a much lower price tag. Let’s take the Smart 750W through the paces and see how it works out.
Over the past couple of months we have been taking a look at Fractal Design’s line of power supplies. We started with the high-end Newton R3, we then moved down the line to the Tesla R2 and now we have the budget and mainstream Integra R2 750W. This power supply is currently selling for $89.99 at my favorite online retailer. It features a 80PLUS Bronze certification, a silent temperature controlled fan and the great styling we know from Fractal Design. This power supply is a great choice for anyone who is on a budget for a power supply, especially if you are not looking for a modular power supply. Let’s take a look…
Enermax is a brand whose strong product is their power supplies, especially when it comes to the high-end spectrum. Their Platimax and MAXREVO units are some of the best out there. But these units are not cheap in terms of cost. Enermax knows not everyone has a ton of cash to throw at a new power supply so they have created the Triathlor series of power supplies. There are actually the Triathlor and Triathlor FC units. The Triathlor units are lower wattage and non-modular and the Triathlor FC units are higher wattage and are modular. Today we are checking out the Triathlor FC 550W unit which is 80PLUS Bronze certified and offers quiet operation.
In Win has been making headlines at Computex with their Tou and KingSize H-Frame cases, but they also had a new power supply on display that actually matches up pretty well with those cases. The Serenity Series power supply has a chrome brushed steel finish and offers a semi-modular design.
One of the most important parts of any system is the power supply and we have a great one to give away for you guys! It is the be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 750W power supply. This is a modular power supply and does have an 80PLUS Gold certification. It also is SLI and CrossFireX certified and is extremely quiet as it uses be quiet’s own 135mm SilentWings fans. So how can you get in on this contest? All of the instructions are below. A special thank to be quiet! for providing the power supply for this contest!
Corsair has become known for their power supplies over the past couple of years. Almost everyone you talk to these days will list a Corsair power supply in recommending a power supply for a build. Corsair’s top line of power supply line is the AX series and today we are taking a look at the AX860i model. This 860W power supply features digital (DSP) control for the best possible voltage regulation, an 80PLUS Platinum certification, full modular design and monitoring and customization through Corsair’s Link software. I have heard nothing but great things about this power supply so let’s take a look…
Not that long ago we took a look at our first power supply from Fractal Design, the Newton R3 600W. While that unit sits as Fractal Design’s top tier power supply today we are checking out one of their more mainstream units the Telsa R2 650W power supply. While this power supply is not modular it still features an 80PLUS Gold certification, single 12V rail, and a temperature controlled 135mm cooling fan. The Tesla R2 still has the same great looks we saw on the Newton R3, but can it perform? Read on as we find out!
Here at ThinkComputers we mainly know Enermax for their cooling solutions, but they also make power supplies. At CeBIT they are showing off a 650W 80PLUS Platinum power supply. We have seen fanless power supplies before, but what makes this one so special? The wattage for one, keeping 650W of power cool without a fan is pretty impressive.
