OWC Mercury Accelsior 480GB PCI-E Solid State Drive Review

Testing – ATTO & CrystalDiskMark
Next up we have ATTO Disk Benchmark that measures transfer rates across specific lengths.  ATTO uses RAW data, our transfer sizes ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb.  ATTO is usually our definitive benchmark for solid state drives.

As you can see from the above results the Mercury Accelsior performs great!

CrystalDiskMark is our next test and it has a sequential read / write test as well as a 512k and 4k random read / write test.  Normally with SandForce-based drives we would have to run this test with 0-fill because SandForce-based drives do not handle incompressible data that well.  But since this is a PCI-E drive with 2 SandForce drives we wanted to see if there would be a performance difference.  So first we ran the normal test.

Now with 0-fill.

As you can see the write speeds suffered a little bit.
