Final Thoughts

The VX1962wm has to be one of the most elegant displays we have seen. The design and glossy finish really bring a lot of attention to the display. The VX1962wm is not all about looks though, it features a 2ms response time, 6000:1 contrast ratio, and of course the 1680 x 1050 resolution.

I really was surprised by the color reproduction on the display, the colors really "popped" and I was even more surprised when I did the all black test and found that there was hardly any backlighting showing.

I think that the resolution is what really sets the VX1962wm apart from other 19-inch displays out there. Most 19-inch widescreen displays have a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900, whereas the VX1962wm has a 1680 x 1050 maximum resolution. That's a 36% increase in screen real estate!

The VX1962wm sells for about $229 online, which is a bit more than other 19-inch displays. Although those displays do not have a 1680 x 1050 resolution and a 2ms response time. If we move up to 20-inch displays with the same features you are looking at $250 or more, so the price is perfect for this display. Overall ThinkComputers gives ViewSonic VX1962wm 19-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor's Choice Award!
