Final Thoughts

This has to be the best LCD I have reviewed or even used. The thing that I like the most about this display is the Color Shine technology. The picture and colors on this display and simply amazing. You can set this LCD next to another one and it does not even compare. So with more vibrant colors your whole experience is enhanced. The only drawback to the Color Shine is that because the screen is glossy it is prone to reflections, especially when darker colors are shown on the screen. Once you have the LCD setup and positioned correctly this should not be a problem.

I really like that ASUS has included the multitude of inputs that are on the PG221, it makes it more the just a computer monitor, it is a gaming display so you can hook a Wii or Xbox 360 up to the display, although you are missing the HDMI for a PS3. If you are going to be playing games you want good sound too and the PG221 has that as well. The Power Bass System gives you surround sound from your monitor! It really sounds good when playing console games.

The Light-in-Motion is a really cool idea and I wish more companies would put cool lighting effects on LCD's, the 5 different color choices are also a plus. The touch-sensitive keys are another thing you won't find on other display and they add to the wow factor of the PG221, not to mention that make it extremely easy to change settings.

If that is not all you get so many other things with this display. The 3 USB ports on the side are something small, but there are way too many displays out there that don't have USB ports on them. The integrated webcam is another added bonus, it is great for video calling and taking pictures and video. The swivel base makes plugging in new devices very easy, although I would have liked to see some type of height adjustment on this display.

I found the PG221 online for around $530, which is a lot to pay for a 22-inch display, but with all of the features and performance of the PG221 it is well worth the price tag. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ASUS PG221 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor's Choice Award!
