Usage & Testing

Setting up the monitor is extremely easy, just put it on your desk or wherever you want it and plug it in. The option menu is easily accessed by pressing the button on the side of the monitor. It is setup well and very easy to navigate. Also I like that there is an easy mute button for the speakers.

The VA1930WM offers a 1440X900 screen resolution, which is more than adequate for having multiple windows open. As you can see from the picture below we have quite a few windows open. One thing that I really noticed about the VA1930WM is it is very bright. If you compare it to my Dell 20.1-inch you can see the difference. The brightness makes it easier to read and makes images more vibrant on the screen.

As far as movie playback and image quality goes the VA1930WM it is excellent. Image clarity is perfect and the colors are just great. Also the brightness makes watching movies easier on the eyes. The speakers are a nice addition, but are nothing to be excited over. They are what you should expect from integrated monitor speakers.

Gaming on the VA1930WM is great, it does have a 5ms response time so you don't have to worry about ghosting. We loaded up a few games to give it a test, Unreal Tournament 3, and Counter-Strike: Source. We ran them at the max resolution of 1440X900 with max settings. The picture quality was awesome and there was no ghosting or jagged edges. Also because the screen was bright it made killing people easier! So if gaming is a priority for you then you have nothing to worry about in the VA1930WM.
